In February, the York Central development team welcomed more than 160 local people to a community engagement drop in event. it provided an opportunity to meet the team behind the York Central development and find out more about what is one of the largest regeneration projects in the country.
McLaren Regeneration and Arlington Real Estate hosted a drop-in event at the Guildhall which was well attended by members of the local community and stakeholders who wanted to find out more about latest progress and next steps for this exciting new city quarter next to the railway station.
This was the first in a series of extensive community events being organised by the developers and follows several other engagement activities they have undertaken since their formal appointment in April 2024.
Tom Gilman, Managing Director of McLaren Regeneration, said: “We’re very grateful to everyone who attended the session, and we will continue to engage with the community throughout the project. It was a great opportunity to answer questions and explain more about our vision to create a world-class city quarter in York. A series of further engagement events will be held throughout this year as work on details of the plans progress.”
McLaren Regeneration and Arlington Real Estate are working with Homes England and Network Rail Property, as well as key partners including the City of York Council and the National Railway Museum, to deliver this major regeneration project.
A planning application covering the first phase of the masterplan is expected to be submitted to the Council later this year.
